Marquis Manor of Crisfield boasts a long history of hospitality. Started in 1898 and completed in 1906 by the Tawes Brothers, they set about making their fortunes in the international seafood industry. Marquis Manor 's subsequent owner, Adeline Hill, inherited the estate some time in the 1930's. She was loved by all and her ghost is said to remain.
Exactly 100 years later, in 2006, the present owners, David and Carolyn Marquis began their labor of love to restore the property. Park your car once here, as shops and restaurants are in walking distance. Charter fishing, day tripping to Tangier Island, stopping in at Janes Island State Park, Debbie's Chocolate Shop, The Pizza Shop, or enjoying specialty coffees and teas at The Blue Crab Garden Cafe are our favorite local attractions. In fact, since we own the cafe, we can open it just for you!
